Let’s Try This Again… Superior College Football

About this time a year ago I started to feel a fever coming on. No, not one accompanied by a sore throat and loss of taste or smell. This was college football fever. It happens every year, but this time it was more severe. It felt like a possible symptom of growing up. Bored and in my late twenties, my mind was searching for something with that extra hit of nostalgia. What better place to find than this great game?

As any rational person at this crossroads would do, I bought season tickets for my local Big Ten program, planned trips to both Pac-12 and SEC games, and started a blog. I came up with a clever name that tied not only to my location, but also to my favorite figure in the game’s history, secured the domain, set up the social media accounts, and the rest… is not history.

I was trying way too hard. Weekly slate previews and recaps, prediction pieces, gambling advice – it all felt forced. As usual I was too wordy, and the lack of joy I had in writing clearly showed in the word vomit I was putting out. I had completely disregarded the tried and true blog boy formula: 1. Have a take 2. Pontificate in a short and sweet way 3. Hit submit.

So as I embark on this for a second time, that is exactly what I plan to do. I have no expectations of anyone reading these. My goal is simply to enjoy sharing my thoughts about the most fun, exciting, surprising, and magical game in American sports, and try to improve as a writer in the process. There are thoughts of also including some podcasts along the way (I was a broadcast major in another life and actually have some real experience in that department), but that is more of an idea than anything at this point and I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.

If you are for some reason reading this, thank you, and I hope you enjoy whatever comes next.
